Appended the following text to my endorsement of the Credo/FreePress/StopBigMedia petition to Congress to pass Senate Joint Resolution 28, co-sponsored by Senator Obama, which opposes the FCC proposal to significantly weaken rules prohibiting cross-ownership of newspaper and television broadcasting.

As markets tend toward consolidation and oligarchical control, consumer choice is curtailed & the public interest subverted. Given the vital role that a free and diverse media plays in informing the citizenry and enforcing government and corporate transparency, Congress must intervene to preserve the FCC media ownership rules that prevent consolidation, which serves only the interests of large media companies.
