What is philosophy? … Exactly!

Etymologically, philosophy means “love of wisdom”, deriving from the Greek words philos (love) and sophia (wisdom). My favored definition is that philosophy is the most general form of inquiry.

Sometime in the near future (read: before I die) I will use this space to hold forth in coherent and systematic form on my personal views on those big, general philosophical questions in ontology, epistemology, metaphysics, and ethics. For now, though, you can check out some questionable cogitations in my IdeaLog or just enjoy a few of my favorite fun philosophy quotes …

“Philosophy is the talk on a cereal box.”

“A compulsion towards philosophical introspection is his chief characteristic, if I may put it like that. It does not mean he is mad. If does not mean he isn’t. Very often, it does not mean anything at all. Which may or may not be a kind of madness.”
